The Look Back Pack (Library Wines & Current Releases)

LIMITED EDITION SIX PACK

Take a trip through our library with this six bottle pack of current and past vintages. A fabulous opportunity to experience how two key varietals for Ontario, Riesling and Cabernet franc, transform in the bottle through cellaring.

Current Release

  • 2018 Robert's Block Riesling  Fresh and complex. Notes of chamomile, ripe lemon and apple on the nose, complemented by flint, ginger, honey and stone fruit on the palate. Bracing acidity balances the residual sugar for a lengthy, dry, perfect finish.

Past vintage

  • 2011 Robert's Block Riesling (original tasting note) Minerality, steel and wet stone leap from this vibrant wine.  Granny smith apple and quince add intrigue to the aroma.  On the palate, traditional steely notes dominate but are softened with subtle mint, orange blossom, peach preserve and apple jelly.  The residual sugar is balanced with vibrant acidity.  Complex, lengthy, zippy, refreshing, age-able and a leader in its category of notable Rieslings in the Niagara Peninsula.

Current Release

  • 2018 Riesling Loved by Lu  Luscious off-dry Riesling simply bursting with apple, citrus and honey on the nose and palate. The absolute perfect balance of lush fruit (think fresh, sweet, crunchy apple and rich, creamy lemon curd) and zippy acidity. Lively, elegant, ideal with the complex flavours and spices of south Asian cuisine, or paired with traditional winter fare like ham, roast pork or poultry.

Past vintage

  • 2008 Semi-Dry Riesling (original tasting note) Very light colour with a typical cool climate green hue.  Highly aromatic with nuances of citrus fruit such as lemon juice, lime leaf, and mineral and steely tones.  The semi-dry, refreshing palate is clean and fruit driven.  On the palate, the citrus notes are joined by Granny Smith apple, white peach, honey with underlying wet stone and metallic notes.

Current Release

  • 2017 Chestnut Tree Cabernet Franc  100% estate grown Cabernet Franc (10+ year old vines), aged 22 months in French and American oak. "Subtle cedar on the nose with easy, fruit and herbaceous notes. Well balanced with sweet spice coming through on the finish." ~ (2020 International Wine & Spirits Competition). Bold, deep in colour, aroma and flavour. Dark berry, plum and currant notes are complimented by suggestions of dry cigar box cedar and worn leather on the nose and palate. Wonderful with dark chocolate, strong cheeses, beef, venison and vegetarian dishes bold with garlic, onions and herbs.

Past vintage

  • 2016 Chestnut Tree Cabernet Franc (original tasting note) The density and extraction displayed in the nuances and palate are ones that only the best of vintages / growing conditions can create.  Spice, cedar, ripe black fruits dominate the nose with a level of concentration not seen from this vineyard before.  The intense, rich, focused palate has gripping yet youthful tannins, cedar box, black fruits, meandering throughout the opulent palate.  Lifted cherry pie, pencil shavings, mint, chocolate and dried tobacco elevate from the glass.  The finish is warm, firm and complicated.
