2018 Robert's Block Riesling: Peach Brandy Barrel - New Release!

Named for Sue-Ann's Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Robert Staff, our Robert's Block Rieslings are only made in great Riesling years. Vinified from the oldest block of Riesling  currently planted on the estate, Robert's Block Rieslings are made to celebrate the terroir of the Vinemount Ridge sub-appellation. 

In 2018, a small amount of our Robert's Block Riesling was placed in a peach brandy barrel for 9 months of aging. The resulting wine is a beautiful, elegant, powerful expression of Bench-grown Riesling. 

On the nose, subtle, sunny notes of baby gold peaches in syrup and freshly ground cardamom lift from the glass, a surprising contrast to the clean, sharp minerality on the palate which suggests citrus and wet gravel. Pair with smoked oysters, ceviche, steamed mussels; roast porkbelly, garlic sausages, rich pâté, fresh bread with compound butter; soft rich cheeses, raclette.
