2019 Riesling Loved By Lu

Riesling Loved By Lu is Sue-Ann's homage to her beloved mentor and grandmother, Lula Staff. When Sue-Ann became a winemaker, her grandmother Lu would always say “I love your Riesling”, so Sue-Ann named this light-hearted, vibrant semi-dry Riesling after her. Enjoy with appetizers, salads, light meals or on its own … just like Lu did.

Vinification: Harvested exclusively from the estate vineyard in from 19-year-old vines grown on thin clay soils with escarpment limestone rock beneath. After pressing the juice went through a cool fermentation, aged in stainless steel and filtered and sweetened before bottling.

Tasting notes: As Riesling ages it slowly loses its bright fruit notes on the nose and develops unique aromas of beeswax, smoke, and butter due to the TDN compound in it. This 2019 Riesling is in sweet spot of beginning to develop those complex secondary aromas but still retaining some of its citrus/green apple notes. An easy drinking and well-balanced Riesling that still has potential to age and develop more.

Serving suggestions: Sensational with Asian cuisine, roast pork/poultry, seared salmon and soft cheeses.
