Years back, while tending my family farm, I had a revelation. I love the farm life.
This is my Paris, my Australia, my South Africa, my freedom.
So I dress the part and enjoy life through the rose-coloured glasses of the fancy farm girl.
The farm is a metaphor, the attire an approach. The reality? There is a fancy farm girl in all of us.
-harvested from the estate vineyard in Jordan, ON and neighbouring Vineland, ON.
- vines grown on thin clay soils with escarpment limestone rock beneath were blended for this wine
-2013 – average to warm year hence harvested once tannins maturity reached
-low yields with tiny berries resulting in an average 21.7 Brix, 7.9 g/L TA and 3.45 pH
-cool fermented in stainless steel over 3 weeks on skins with selected yeast to retain colour and fruit
-MLF in stainless prior to oak aging for 6 months in aged French and American oak
-no fining required. Current release is approximately 60% Merlot with Cabernets balancing out the blend.

The subtle colour that is crimson yet bright elude to the wine’s elegance. The spiced and fruit driven nose remind you of brandied cherries, stewed red raspberries and mulling spices while underlying tones of leather, a wintery meat stew and juniper add complexity. The elegant, dry, gripping palate which gets more intense and alluring as you sip it is most attractive. Very approachable with a pleasant round finish persists. Enjoy with appetizers, elegant red meats, rose pasta sauces, medium bodied cheeses and milk chocolate. Best with the most flamboyant of meals and the simplest of cuisine.
