The 2011 Robert’s Block Riesling is back for a limited time only!
Vinified from 100% estate fruit, 16-year-old vines (at the time) grown on thin clay soils with escarpment limestone beneath. 2011 was a cool year resulting in low yields with tiny berries at 18.2 Brix, 10.5 g/L total acidity. The wine was cool fermented in stainless over 3 weeks with selected yeast to maximize aromatics and influence of terroir and left on gross lees for 5 months with very little agitation.
Original Tasting Note:
Classic Riesling nuances of minerality, steely and wet stone leap from the vibrant light straw-coloured wine. Granny smith apple and quince add intrigue to the aroma. On the palate, traditional steely notes dominate however made more complex with subtle mint, orange blossom, peach preserve and apple jelly. The residual sugar is balanced with vibrant acidity. Complex, lengthy, zippy, refreshing, age able and a leader in its category of notable Rieslings in the Niagara Peninsula. Enjoy with seafood, fish, appetizers, poultry, and salads or simply on its own.
