About the artist…
Francesca Waddell is the talent behind the artwork. She is a fashion illustrator based in Scotland where she lives
with her husband and children in Glasgow. Francesca has loved drawing since a very young age; her favourite subjects were dogs, horses, and family portraits. After studies at The Leith School of Art and The Glasgow School of Art
(Fine Art Drawing & Painting) she went on to study fashion design where she discovered her love of fashion illustration.
Many have asked “Who created the artwork on the ‘Fancy Farm Girl’ label?”
The elusive answer….
Since 2010, she has created works for clients in the fashion and beauty industries, working for Tatler, Vogue Japan,
Vogue Turkey, Dove, Herbal Essences and Bloomingdales; online fashion magazines The Stylist, Emerald Street,
Cellardoor, The Coveted Mag and The Skinny and illustration work for websites such as Chamomile Sanctuary. She
has worked as a freelance textile designer selling internationally to clients in the USA and Australia including Urban
Outfitters, John Lewis and Calvin Klein. And now, “Fancy Farm Girl” from Jordan, Ontario, Canada!
In Francesca’s words “My style is very feminine, fluid and painterly.
I work with a mix of mediums starting with drawing, moving into paint and
finishing up in Photoshop. For me the most
important thing is to try to create something
spontaneous and effortless, creating many, many
drawings to get the right one.”
