Part-Time Wine Associate

At Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery, we believe a winery visit should feel personal, relaxed, and welcoming — more like visiting a friend than stepping into a business. We are looking for a Wine Associate who shares that philosophy and enjoys connecting with people over good wine.

As a Wine Associate, you will welcome guests, lead wine tastings, share our story, and help create the kind of experience that makes people want to come back. You will also assist with retail sales, events, and the day-to-day work that keeps our tasting room running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Guest Experience: Create warm, memorable experiences for every guest while confidently managing multiple groups and balancing tasting, retail, and cleaning responsibilities during busy periods. Excellent presentation and guided tasting skills required.
• Wine Tastings: Lead educational wine tastings by pouring and describing our wines with enthusiasm and accuracy.
• Sales & Service: Assist guests in selecting wines they will enjoy and introduce them to our wine club and other offerings. Confidently operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process transactions.
• Wine & Winery Knowledge: Maintain a strong knowledge of our wines, history, and the local wine region to answer guest inquiries.
• Daily Operations: Perform essential opening and closing duties, including stocking shelves, polishing glassware, and keeping the tasting room and public areas clean and welcoming.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Availability: Must be available to work weekends and holiday periods, plus the odd weekday.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse groups of people.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry cases of wine weighing approximately 40 lbs.
• Certifications: Valid Smart Serve certification is required. Wine education or certification is a strong asset.
• Experience: Previous experience in the wine industry, hospitality, or retail is an asset, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are paramount.

Compensation: Hourly, based on experience, plus part of the tip pool.
