Why Lu? Notes from Sue-Ann

I named this wine in honour of my grandmother and mentor, Lu Staff. When I was growing up here on the family farm, I spent a lot of time working in the vineyard with my grandmother. She taught me how to love and care for the vines, and years later was my biggest fan. "Oh, Sue-Ann, I just love your Rieslings," she'd say. After she passed away, I decided to honour her memory by making a semi-dry Riesling from our estate vines every year. I'm delighted that Riesling Loved By Lu is our top-selling white wine. ~ Sue-Ann

Winemaker's Notes

The fruit for Riesling Loved By Lu was harvested exclusively from the estate vineyard from 16- to 30-year-old vines grown on thin clay soils with escarpment limestone rock beneath. Most vines are clone 21 on SO4 rootstock. After gentle pressing, the juice went through cool fermentation and aging in stainless steel. We filtered and sweetened the wine before bottling.
